Mikis Theodorakis on anti communism

Legendary composer Mikis Theodorakis blasts anti-communists and anti-Stalin slanderers

 This from https://communismgr.blogspot.it/2017/08/legendary-composer-mikis-theodorakis.html
With a powerful letter to the Athens daily “Ta Nea”, the renowned Greek composer Mikis Theodorakis comments on the recent anti-communist hysteria on the occasion of the EU and Estonian government’s unhistorical, anti-communist events.
Theodorakis, 92, begins his letter by blaming “Ta Nea” for the newspaper’s anti-communist stance: “I’m terrified by the anti-communist hysteria that overwhelms your newspapers. As a young communist, I had the honor to fight through the lines of EAM for the achievement of freedom. Later, during the Junta period, through the Patriotic Front for the restoration of Democracy”.
Among other references regarding Greece’s recent political history, Theodorakis writes: “The only thing that counts for you is our defeat in the Civil War and your inconvenience because the Left’s ideology continues to exist, act and affect after so many persecutions”.

Then, the composer refers to Joseph Stalin:

Halt the U.S. Drive to War with North Korea!

Some important historical notes on the “cesspool of terrorism’s” real relationship to the Korean peninsula.

21centurymanifesto

From the US Peace Council

U.S. television news programs (CNN, MSNBC, and Fox) have been pounding the war drums in the last few weeks and days, since North Korea successfully launched a long- range missile. The long drift to war with North Korea[1] has seemingly become, overnight, a U.S. drive to war with North Korea.

With his usual bluster and saber-rattling, President Trump on his recent tour of Europe continued to threaten “severe action” against North Korea. Trump has made matters worse by devolving authority to battlefield commanders who inflame tensions with their own incendiary statements. Example: the U.S. commander in Korea, General Vincent Brooks, stated publicly “the only thing which separates armistice from war” with North Korea is “our self-restraint, which is a choice.”

Anyone is the U.S. could conclude, quite reasonably, that the U.S. is the aggrieved and threatened party; that North Korea obviously wishes to harm the…

Palestine is Still the Issue

OffGuardian

by John Pilger

When I first went to Palestine as a young reporter in the 1960s, I stayed on a kibbutz. The people I met were hard-working, spirited and called themselves socialists. I liked them. One evening at dinner, I asked about the silhouettes of people in the far distance, beyond our perimeter.

“Arabs”, they said, “nomads”. The words were almost spat out. Israel, they said, meaning Palestine, had been mostly wasteland and one of the great feats of the Zionist enterprise was to turn the desert green.

They gave as an example their crop of Jaffa oranges, which was exported to the rest of the world. What a triumph against the odds of nature and humanity’s neglect.

It was the first lie. Most of the orange groves and vineyards belonged to Palestinians who had been tilling the soil and exporting oranges and grapes to Europe since the eighteenth century…

Why the West Will Not and Cannot Let Syria Live in Peace

My thoughts exactly…they must be stopped.

OffGuardian

by Marcus Godwyn, Moscow,  27-06-2017
For all those who have become awake and conscious or have escaped the Western media pit of lies and brainwashing, the six-year-long resistance of the Syrian people in the face of the Anglo-Zionist empire and its terrorist proxy troops ISIS, Al Qaeda et al has been a deeply tragic but historically heroic inspiration.  They survived four years almost totally alone until Russia entered to fight the US, EU, and Israeli proxy terrorist fighters that were gaining ground on government held territory in Syria. The Russian campaign has been exemplary, resulting in at the time of writing in a total reversal for the Anglo-Zionists. Many are rightly praising the Heroic Syrian Arab army and its Russian, Iranian and Hezbollah allies.  I have been saying all along, however, that this optimism is misplaced as the forces that actually run the Western world simply cannot let Syria rise…

Trump and Brexit

21centurymanifesto

screen-shot-2017-02-05-at-21-26-55

by Nick Wright

Donald Trump has a remarkable talent for mobilisation. Millions of people in dozens of cities — in the country to which his family migrated, and in the countries from which they migrated — have taken to the streets in protest at his first actions in office.

This is no single issue protest. The millions who march against the ban on Muslims are mobilised as much by his misogyny as his chauvinism.

Theresa May’s rush to be the first foreign government head to meet him, compounded by a hasty invitation to parade down the Mall in a golden coach with our own head of state, smacks of unseemly submission. That Trump reached only for her hand is perhaps all that is left of the famous special relationship.

A tawdry trade deal is the rationale for her rushed visit but the deeper reason lies in the unbridled anxieties the…

Celebrate the 96th anniversary of the Italian Communist Party

21centurymanifesto

partito-comunista-italiano_2016

“Hundreds of comrades, hundreds of red flags with the hammer and sickle of the Italian Communist Party.
In Livorno, the day of 96th anniversary of the birth of the Communist Party, the Communists raise their heads and will no longer stop. The path to the future is taken, now it’s up to us!”

“Centinaia di compagni, centinaia di bandiere rosse con la falce e martello del Partito Comunista Italiano.
A Livorno, nel giorno del 96esimo anniversario della nascita del PCI, i comunisti rialzano la testa e non si fermeranno più. Il cammino verso il futuro è ripreso, ora tocca a noi!”

Welcome to Corbyn victory

21centurymanifesto

British communists welcome Corby victory and urge mass action and left wing policies
Jeremy Corbyn’s victory will be welcomed by socialists and progressives throughout the labour movement.
It was a win for all who want the Labour Party to fight for the interests of workers and their families, for peace and environmental security. It was also a triumph against the scurrilous barrage of smears and distortions aimed at Corbyn and his supporters by some Labour MPs and – with the notable exception of the Morning Star newspaper – almost the whole of the national mass media.
The top priorities for the whole movement now must be to challenge ruling class policies, put forward a clear alternative and create the conditions in which the Tory government can be swept from office at the earliest opportunity.
The Communist Party therefore urges an upsurge in the kinds of  extra-parliamentary and…
